Peter Zhi Chao Li arrives from Guangzhou and starts working at a Chinatown grocery the morning after landing. Three months later, the owner decides to fold — and Peter takes over, renaming it Li’s Market. 李志超先生由廣州移民美國，落地第二天早上便在唐人街一間雜貨店開工。三個月後東主結業，李伯毅然頂手，改名「李記市場」（Li’s Market）。
The butcher shop takes shape 肉舖成形
Having worked in the meat trade back in China, Peter converts the grocery into a dedicated butcher shop at 47 Division Street — fresh meat at near-wholesale prices for a working neighborhood. 李伯本身是肉行出身，便把雜貨店改為專營肉舖，落戶 Division 街 47 號，以近批發價服務街坊。

When lockdown empties Chinatown, Peter’s son Jefferson takes the shop to Reddit — steep discounts, hand deliveries across the city, and a plea to keep neighbors fed. The posts go viral, and The Wall Street Journal tells the story. 疫情期間唐人街一片冷清，李伯之子 Jefferson 把小店搬上 Reddit：大減價、親自送貨，只求街坊有肉落鑊。帖子爆紅，《華爾街日報》亦專文報導。
Second generation, same counter 第二代，同一個肉檯
Jefferson — Brooklyn Tech grad, U.S. Coast Guard veteran — now runs the day-to-day alongside his parents. Same shop, same prices-for-neighbors philosophy, thirty years on. Jefferson 畢業於布碌崙科技高中、曾服役美國海岸防衛隊，如今與父母一起打理店務。三十年如一日，依然是那間街坊肉舖。
